Apple recently launched its new iPhone model i.e. iPhone SE (2020) which comes with some really controversial specifications.
Lets talk about all the features of this new iPhone SE (2020) one by one.
The body : The most controversial part of the newly released iPhone is its body. It comes with identical dimensions and size as that of the iPhone 8 (compact sized) which was launched back in 2018. Though this factor of choice is truly subjective, the fact is that, this design (with really thick bezels on each sides of the phone) is now outdated and how can one carry a phone with such thick bezels in the year where almost all phones are now coming with highest screen-to-body ratios. Only those who doesn't really care about the looks of the phone and just want an iPhone at a cheaper price (according to apple), will be the only ones to buy this phone.
The Display : It is 2020. A year where you get a minimum 'Full HD' display in even the cheapest available phone in the market. Whereas this newly launched iPhone is again offering IPS LCD (really old and outdated) display. A display where colour accuracy hardly come into picture. Surely a compromise done !
The Camera : iPhones comes with really good cameras, even if it has single camera hardware, it does takes some really good pictures and so will the new iPhone SE 2020 do. Thanks to its hardware and software optimisations. So, a thumbs up here. But again, the price at which this device comes, you can get some flagship phones with even better camera setup in android ecosystem.
Wireless Charging : Is this something which everyone uses ? Is it something which is included in iphone SE only to create a hype about this phone and to justify its $399 pricing (Rs. 42,500) in India). Instead of wireless charging feature, a fast charger included in the box would have made a lot of sense (as ofcourse this phone supports fast charging as well)
Processor : No doubt, iPhone SE 2020 houses "best in the industry" A13 Bionic processor which performs seamlessly, whatever you throw at it. But again, its just a 4.7" display and whoever buys this iPhone, is practically not going to do any heavy multi-tasking as it becomes a real task to play games or work or view media content. Makes no sense again.
Performance : If you are concerned about the performance of your phone, buy any iPhone (launched since past 3 years), you won't really notice much of a difference in your day to day activities as Apple does best hardware-software optimisations on their iphones and also they get timely updates of latest ios. Thus, performance should never be a factor of concern when it comes to iphones.
The Verdict : As mentioned earlier, there will only be two categories of people buying the "most affordable iPhone" (as they say), firstly those who prefer to carry a compact sized iphone and doesn't care much about the thick bezels that it sports; secondly those who just wants to buy a latest iphone (just to show they have the Apple logo in their pocket) and are tight on their budget.
